Deep amber-brown in color with aromas of roasted caramel, oak and red wine, flavors are tart followed by grape and toasted nut with a dry, oaky and red wine finish.
A creative brewing process was used on this one. The first batch was brewed with a unique yeast strain known for producing a grape-wine character that under went a second fermentation with lager yeast prior to being aged in fresh cabernet oak barrels for 5 months. The second batch was kettle soured then laid to rest in fresh cabernet oak barrels for 6 months. We blended the two batches together prior to packaging
Because of the multiple advanced techniques involved (two souring methods, additional fermentation, cabernet barrel aging, and blending) this Oud Bruin is a contemporary and inventive take on a centuries old classic. Truly one-of-a-kind.
Pair with sharp cheeses and caramel desserts.
